MTI Engineering fabricated and erected the structural steel for the backfill footprint reduction project at Gold Fields South Deep, to a design by Struktur.
Backfill plant work sits directly on the critical path of an operating mine — the plant supports the underground mining cycle, so steel has to arrive dimensionally correct and be erected inside a defined window. Detailing, fabrication and erection were carried out in-house against that programme.
